With 130,000 available hotel rooms (148,978 if you throw in Nye County and Laughlin) you might think there would be a "Deals" to be found. You would most likely be wrong! Finding a "deal" in a city whose Major Resort properties run near capacity is becoming difficult difficult. Why? Because the top resort properties are controlled by a select group of companies that have no incentive to discount.
Vegas' Law of Supply and Demand
Consider for a moment the simple law of "Supply and Demand". When the supply is high and the demand is low the prices drop. Vegas is a boomtown, the demand is high and the supply is low. How could that be with 130,000 rooms? The answer is simple: 30 million annual visitors and growing! In fact the growth rate is so phenomenal that Mega Resorts like Mandalay Bay (43 story $ 375 million Spa Tower featuring 1,120 Suites completed in December 2004) and The Venetian (currently expanding) and the recently completed $ 2.4 Billion Wynn Las Vegas (Opened April 2005) are adding thousands of rooms to the "Heart of the Strip". So phenomenal is the growth that even out of State Financiers like Donald Trump are getting in on the action. The Demand for Rooms is exceeding the supply so the prices are rising!
According to an interview published July 30, 2004 in USA Today Trump's plans include a 64-story hotel-condominium tower to be built on a portion of the Frontier Hotel property across from the Wynn Las Vegas Resort and next to the Fashion Show Mall.
Scheduled to begin construction sometime in 2005 the $ 300 million project will feature 1,000 hotel rooms, and 50 luxury residential units modeled after the Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York. There will be no Casino on the property.
Only 10% of Las Vegas Hotels are Booked Online
In several articles I've researched this year published in various Business Journals and by Hotel Industry analysts the actual booking rate for Hotels offering online services to their visitors is approximately 10% Nationwide. This I believe to be an accurate representation of Las Vegas as well. (Our company runs several websites offering Hotel Booking and these numbers are in line with our own).
Further Proof: "Only about 10 percent of our rooms are booked at Hyatt.COM," said Gary Gotling, director of sales and marketing for Hyatt Regency Tampa.
This means 90% of you are using the Internet to gather information, but are not actually making your reservation Online! Traditional Travel Agents and telephone calls are still the preferred method of booking. The Internet is being used as an information gathering source, and little more. The big Players know this and use it to their advantage. Again there is no incentive to offer lower rates if your customers don't take advantage of them. I'll touch briefly on the issue of Room Taxation by saying that most local governments hate the internet because rooms booked online by out of State interests are cutting into their available tax pool. Expect local Government officials to act sooner than later on this issue.
So where does your money go when you book online?
If you search Vegas.com you'll find they are owned by Greenspun Media Group (Henderson, NV) which publishes the Las Vegas Sun Daily Newspaper, and owns Vegas Magazine, Showbiz Weekly, In Business, Las Vegas Weekly, VegasGolfer, Las Vegas Life, and The Ralston Report. Greenspun Media is part of the Greenspun Corporation, which also owns local channel 25 UPN. Greenspun is a partner in Las Vegas ONE, an all-news cable channel. American Nevada, the real estate division of the Greenspun Corporation, is among the most recognized commercial and residential developers in the Las Vegas valley. Their annual advertising budget exceeds 7 figures! Somebody has to pay the price for all that advertising.
You might try the popular website LasVegas.com which has an interesting and storied history. The site Domain was licensed in 2002 from the Stephens Media Group of Littlerock Arkansas (Las Vegas Review Journal, Hawaii.com) to the Mandalay Resort Group and Parkplace Entertainment. Follow along now – 2004 Park Place became Caesars Entertainment, which in turn was purchased by Harrah's Entertainment. This deal came just one month after MGM / Mirage agreed to purchase the Mandalay Resort Group. Need a room on the strip? Hmmm – I think the pricing is going to be pretty consistent! And to think that you could have owned LasVegas.com as late as 1997!
IAC (InterActiveCorp) run by Mega Financier Barry Diller operates these online Travel Booking Agencies
Expedia.com Vacations
Expedia's Vegas Packages
Hotwire.com
TripAdvisor.com
Hotels.com
IAN.com
Note (s): Expedia is # 1 in total online Travel Bookings for 3rd party internet based booking agencies. But their piece of the total "booking pie" is still very small. Mr. Diller also oversaw the recent acquisition of "Ask Jeeves" for a mere $ 1.85 billion. Don't expect those room prices to drop any time soon.
Saber Holdings Corp owns:
Travelocity – # 3 in Travel Bookings
Note: Saber was the "Big Player" in the Travel Agent industry as most Travel Agent computers tied into their booking systems. Travelocity is # 3 behind Expedia and Orbitz (Now owned by Cedant Corp.)
Cedant Crop is the worlds top Hotel Franchiser with over 6,400 locations and owns or franchises:
· Orbitz – # 2 in Travel Visitors
Lodging.com
HotelClub.com
Ratestogo.com
FYI – Cadant also owns Avis & Budget Rent A Car, Fairfield Resorts (timeshare resorts), Cheap Tickets.com, and Century 21 and Coldwell Banker Real Estate Franchises.
So where does this leave you? I'd suggest you take a quick read of the tips below.
Quick Tips for Vegas Visitors on a Budget?
You're probably thinking I'll suggest visiting in the "off season". Don't do it! August temperatures often exceed 110 degrees – and that's the air temperature not the heat radiating off of the concrete and asphalt. No I'm going to suggest you do something much simpler – stay off the strip! Car rentals are cheap when you compare them to the exorbitant prices of the top "On Strip" Mega Resorts. Try a Hotel in Henderson or Summerlin. I'd suggest smaller resorts like the SunCoast or The Orleans.
Get a rental car and park behind the Excalibur, New York New York, or in the Fashion Show Mall (It's covered and very secure). Click on Internet Ads and see what is available. While 90% of the rooms are booked at capacity the Hotels that are not booked fully actually do advertise! Click those ads! I once stayed at the Fiesta Henderson for $ 29.95 a night for 3 nights in a row, and I had a suite with 2 queen rooms! I found this deal on an Internet Ad! In fact when I called the Hotel to try and get an even better deal they told me I had to book online! Try corporate housing as it's usually full during the weekdays but available on the Weekends when the business Travelers return home. Visit the websites of Hotels you may want to stay at and sign up for their email promos so you get offers sent directly to you before your trip (Use a free address like Hotmail for this purpose). Ask at the desk when you sign in for any additional perks or offers available to guests. It's kind of like asking for the window seat on the plane, if you don't ask for it you won't get it. And my final tip is Form before Fashion – bring your most comfortable walking shoes and stock up on bottled water at the local grocer before you check in. Enjoy!

Did voters expect President Trump to make or break deals? Let's count the deals he has made and kept versus those he has broken. He said making deals with politicians would be easy. Let's see how he has done.
Accomplishments.
1. Executive Orders. President Trump has eagerly signed executive orders at public events in the Oval Office to undo Obama policies. Congressional Republicans had complained when President Obama dealt with issues they were unwilling to tackle by signing executive orders which were called illegal and even tyrannical. The same Republicans now cheer this president for executive actions on matters they would rather not have to vote on.
2. Tax Reform. Calling it a middle-class tax cut, President Trump celebrated a bill that rewarded wealthy threatened and large corporations as it ballooned the national debt. Congressional Republicans considered this a major accomplishment they had worked toward for many years.
3. The Budget. A national budget was passed with Democrat support. Republicans who objected to the cost of items wanted by Democrats are now supporting President Trump in withholding spending – in other words, not following through on a deal.
Broken Promises and Deals.
1. Repeal and Replace Obamacare. Candidate Trump promised to replace Obamacare with better, less expensive, and all-inclusive healthcare. Once in office, it became clear there was no replacement plan. Failure to develop a replacement played a role in defeating legislative efforts at repeal. Now Obamacare is being slowly undermined in numerous ways, each of which hurts thousands of Americans without providing alternatives that help.
2. Political Deals. In a meeting with the four top congressional leaders, President Trump made a deal with Democrats for a "clean" DACA bill, to the astonishment of Republicans in the meeting. Soon thereafter he reneged, blaming the Democrats. Later he hosted a televised discussion with several members of Congress, promising to support whatever bipartisan bill the group proposed so long as it represented a "bill of love." When a bipartisan group of senators presented a compromise to him, the president shouted it down and insulted African countries.
3. Multilateral Agreements. President Trump has made NATO allies uneasy with his insults, hesitancy to affirm the defense commitment that holds the alliance together, and even expressed reservations about defending Baltic countries being threatened by Russia. The Paris climate agreement and the agreement with Iran were rejected even though they were significant internationally supported achievements that worked. Traditional peaceful relationships with Canada and Mexico have been disrupted through attacks on NAFTA and mean-spirited comments directed at friendly neighbors. Refusal to join a Pacific trade agreement also broke commitments to Asian trading partners, leaving them at the mercy of Chinese economic power.
4. Pacific Defense. The single clear accomplishment of the summit with North Korea in Singapore was a betrayal of defense agreements with South Korea and Japan. Two previous administrations engaged in denuclearization talks with North Korea and gained written commitments at an early stage that were specific and required verification. At an advanced stage, North Korea balked at carrying out the agreements. The previous American administrations had negotiated with the participation of our South Korean and Japanese allies and did not give military concessions highly desired by China and North Korea.
But President Trump thinks making a deal with North Korea is not so hard. He launched the diplomatic process by having a personal meeting with Kim Jong Un. The summit included a private discussion between the leaders with only translators present so no one could make a transcript of their conversation. Records were not needed, according to President Trump, because of his fabulous memory of whatever would be discussed. The outcome of the summit was a short statement that was less specific than any previous diplomatic agreements with North Korea.
In a press conference at the end, the president announced a commitment to halt military exercises and eventually to remove American troops from North Korea. This was all based on verbal assurances from Kim Jong Un that North Korea would eliminate nuclear weapons and turn over bodies of American casualties from the Korean War.
Without consultation with South Korea and Japan, and also without specific written agreements including verification, President Trump jeopardized defense agreements with allies and announced, based on his personal confidence in Kim Jong Un, that the problem of nuclear weapons in North Korea had been solved.
Conclusion.
After a year and a half in office, President Trump has broken political deals, backed out of coalition agreements, and threatened multilateral trade and defense treaties. Why has the dealmaker turned into such a deal-destroyer?
The answer is demonstrated before the American public every day of his term in office. If Trump did not make the agreement, it has no value. Multilateral deals involving equality and give-and-take among parties do not measure up to Trumpian standards. As seen in other situations, everything is always about him. Instead of multilateral pacts based on equity, all participants in agreements must now rotate around a Trumpian sun. One secret conversation with Kim Jong Un solved the North Korea problem even though allies and the world see no hard evidence of what was agreed upon. We must trust Trump, who swears we can now trust Kim Jong Un. If Trump makes the deal, we must believe it is good.
Finally, dear voter, look at what American bankers and those involved in business deals said during the presidential campaign: he doesn't pay his bills. Trump bragged about leveraging bankruptcy to get ahead in business. The real specialty of Donald Trump is breaking deals in ways that profit him individually irrespective of who gets hurt. If North Korean and Russian propaganda outlets sing the praises of Donald Trump, he thinks America is finally winning respect no matter the damage to our allies or world democracy.

Almost everyone has heard about Donald Trump and his massive amount of accrued wealth, but most have no idea how he made it. Some think he's in real estate, others thinks he owns businesses, but quite frankly, those are just some of the methods of madness he chooses to use. Donald Trump is actually in the art of "Deal-Making" and you'll learn all about it in this book.
I will talk about what I think the most important concept of the book is. If you don't want to read this book, I think you should at least read the chapter on this concept. The concept is about using negative thinking to help you negotiation, make deals, and accumulate wealth. I've read a lot of books but this is the first one I've heard that tells you to think negatively to gain an edge.
Trumps outlook on deals is that if you can handle and accept the worst part of a deal then you can let the good take care of itself. Whenever you go to put a deal together always think of the worst outcome and see if you can accept that before going in. If you can't accept it, then either don't waste your time or try harder to ensure you don't get that result, but what better way to go into a deal knowing that the worst possible outcome is acceptable to you.
At this point you may be thinking, "that's stupid" the worst part of any deal is that it doesn't happen, and if that's what you're thinking then I am not making my point clear. Everyone has a different idea of what the worst thing they'll accept out of the deal is and if yours is the deal just won't happen then you should definitely read this book to help you up your "worst standards".
The other parts of the book are also packed with good information. You will learn about Donald's father and how he was in the construction business and Donald's decision not to follow in his fathers foot steps. You'll get to spend a week in the office with Donald. You will learn about some of the major deals he made, the difficulties involved with each, and how he made them happen.
In summary, there's a lot of things you can take away from this book, whether you just want to know who Donald Trump is or apply his principles to your own life, there's something for everyone. I give this book a 9/10 for its insightfulness.

Q: Is the Long Island Medium real? Isn't she just doing cold reading? What do skeptics say about psychic mediums, and is there any way to tell if they're right? And what is the EASIEST way to get first hand PROOF that psychic mediums like Theresa Caputo really ARE speaking to spirit, without getting scammed or being taken advantage of?
Any of these questions sound familiar? If they do … continue reading as we take a closer look below!
First, understand THIS to be true, because it IS:
The ONLY way to get proof that a psychic or medium is real, or that the whole IDEA of psychic mediumship and spiritual communication is real, is to actually have the experience yourself. If I thought I could convince you … I would try. But, the one thing I've learned in 20 years of psychic and spiritual exploration is THIS:
Until you have the actual experience, and the SENSE that something just happened that can't be explained away using ordinary logic, you won't ever really believe. You may THINK you believe. But knowing … and believing, are two very different feelings!
Next, THIS is critical as well.
When I went to report on a John Edwards show a few years ago, my professional peers, who mostly are super skeptical, gave me all sorts of things to look for, and all sorts of "easy" explanations that would explain what he was REALLY doing.
Fake people in the crowd. Hidden tape recorders that eavesdropped on peoples conversations. Cold reading. Guessing. Fishing for answers. General information that could apply to everyone and anyone. Etc.
The truth is, NOTHING even close to that came true. The experience was incredibly illuminating, a lot of fun, and it was impossible to walk out of there NOT believing.
As a matter of fact, I connected my report on the experience by saying – "either half the audience was planted to trick the other half … or, something completely unexplainable just happened for 3 hours and I watched it unfold, before my widening eyes. "
Okay … so you're more interested in seeing the Long Island Medium in person, right?
It's no surprise that you aren't alone! The Long Island Medium is probably the most popular psychic and spiritual search on the web today … and most folks are looking to either see her in person, or in a small group setting. (which is much more affordable … and DOES give you the opportunity of getting first hand information, if in fact your own loved ones do come through)
Of course, some of you reading this right now are rolling your eyes and are DEAD set skeptical. (no pun intended!) The truth is, belief in psychics, mediums and an afterlife in general is a controversial area, and I've personally been on both sides of the fence myself.
(as a one time super-skeptic, it was not until I had a personal experience with a medium who offered amazing insight and information, did I even begin to contemplate the idea that we have a soul or spirit that continues on after death)
The good news? you do NOT need to believe anything at all to go see a good medium in person.
Bring an open mind … or even a skeptical mind, and just allow the experience to unfold.
If you don't find yourself impressed … or think it's a total sham, good for you! But … if like many others, you find your world view has CHANGED forever due to the incredible experience of watching a medium work WITHOUT props, or cheating or common cold reading techniques, I challenge you to walk out with the same opinion you had coming in.
The bottom line?
I'm now 100% convinced there is an afterlife. I've had over 100 deeply meaningful readings in the last 3 years, many of which have completely changed my life.
But NOBODY else could convince me. And if you're reading this far, the same is probably true for YOU, too. (which is why seeking out your OWN psychic, or spiritual experiences is the only 1 path to try knowing there is)

When I went to report on a John Edwards show a few years ago, my professional peers, who mostly are super skeptical, gave me all sorts of things to look for, and all sorts of “easy” explanations that would explain what he was REALLY doing.
As a matter of fact, I concluded my report on the experience by saying – “either half the audience was planted to trick the other half… or, something completely unexplainable just happened for 3 hours and I watched it unfold, before my widening eyes.”
Okay… so you’re more interested in seeing the Long Island Medium in person, right?
It’s no surprise that you aren’t alone! The Long Island Medium is probably the most popular psychic and spiritual search on the web today… and most folks are looking to either see her in person, or in a small group setting. (which is much more affordable… and DOES give you the opportunity of getting first hand information, if in fact your own loved ones do come through)
Of course, some of you reading this right now are rolling your eyes and are DEAD set skeptical. (no pun intended!) The truth is, belief in psychics, mediums and an afterlife in general is a controversial area, and I’ve personally been on both sides of the fence myself.
(as a one time super-skeptic, it wasn’t until I had a personal experience with a medium who offered amazing insight and information, did I even begin to contemplate the idea that we have a soul or spirit that continues on after death)
The good news? you do NOT need to believe anything at all to go see a good medium in person.
Bring an open mind… or even a skeptical mind, and just allow the experience to unfold.
If you don’t find yourself impressed… or think it’s a total sham, good for you! But… if like many others, you find your world view has CHANGED forever due to the incredible experience of watching a medium work WITHOUT props, or cheating or common cold reading techniques, I challenge you to walk out with the same opinion you had coming in.
The bottom line?
I’m now 100% convinced there is an afterlife. I’ve had over 100 deeply meaningful readings in the last 3 years, many of which have completely changed my life.
But NOBODY else could convince me. And if you’re reading this far, the same is probably true for YOU, too. (which is why seeking out your OWN psychic, or spiritual experiences is the only 1 path to try knowing there is)
