I Predict the President Will Outline a Huge Tax Increase, and That Most Americans Will Support It

Introduction

I predict that in order to reduce the Federal deficit, pay for extraordinary government spending on defense and infrastructure, protect the viability of Social Security, fund a substantial tax cut for low and middle class citizens and diminish the growing wealth gap between the vast majority of Americans and the 1 percent, a one-time tax on estate values over 15 million dollars will be introduced by the Trump Administration the end of the year.

The wealth tax will be applied to personal assets, including owner-occupied housing; cash, bank deposits, money market funds, savings in insurance and pension plans, investment in real estate and unincorporated businesses and corporate stock, financial securities and personal trusts. However, liabilities (primarily mortgages and other loans) will be deducted from wealth accountability. For this reason, the one time levy might more accurate be termed a net wealth tax.

I hope Trump and his minions will expand the basic idea to a variable one-time wealth tax. While it should begin with a 15% tax on net wealth of 15 million dollars, it should increase as follows:

  • 25% over 20 million.
  • 30% over 30 "
  • 35% over 40 "
  • 40% over 50 "
  • 45% over 60 "
  • 50% over 70 "
  • 60% over 80 "
  • 70% over 90 "
  • 75% over 100 "
  • 80% over 500 "
  • 50% over 1 billion dollars

I'm not sure it would be a good idea to go further than this. The super 1 percenters might Swift Boat me and the merits of the net wealth tax prognostication if extended beyond a billion dollars. Besides, I don't want to be the Eugene Debs or Upton Sinclair of wellness, though of course I admire both immensely.

There are vastly more taxpayers whose net wealth is far below even the lowest net tax rate foreseen in the expected Trump proposal. Once this plan gains escape velocity, that is, gets the kind of attention a single Trump tweet attracts on Twitter, there will be no stopping it. Any legislator opposing it will be defeated; Fox News commentators and other critics will lose caste.

You may be surprised to learn that Donald Trump himself proposed a one-off 14.25% wealth tax on the net worth of individuals and trusts worth $ 10 million or more in 1999. Trump claimed that his proposal would generate $ 5.7 trillion in new taxes, which could be used to eliminate the national debt.

I'm told by Robert Miles, an expert on the sage of Omaha and one of the most respected investors ever, Warren Buffett, that Mr. Buffett is likely to favor the realization of the Ardell prognostication and the Ardell Rules re tax rates for the very wealthy. Warren Buffett put forward a not too dissimilar idea as part of a tax plan proposed by President Barack Obama in 2011. The plan would have applied a minimum tax rate of 30 percent on individuals making more than one million dollars a year.

According to a White House official, the new tax rate would have directly affected 0.3 percent of taxpayers.

Buffett Rule: Raise $ 20 billion from ultra rich (50,000 earning $ 1,000,000 +) by requiring 30% tax rate (same as middle class). Buffett Rule net effect: Lower 20 million struggling families tax burden by $ 1,000 each.

As an aside, Buffett solves the budget deficit in 5 minutes (actually in a 43 second video):

George Will recently lamented the kind of society being bandied about in current (and past) futuristic novels. He observed that they foresee a government system of transfer of income from those who do things to those who don't. That, he says, suggests that one half of the country would support the other half.

An associate named Bruce Midgett thinks this is right in theory, wrong in the numbers. It's more like ten percent of the country would support the other ninety percent – as they damn well should be expected to do. Their wealth was not accumulated in a vacuum. Bruce added this to the conversation "

However, others see little choice – it will follow logically. The late Harold Tascher as early as the mid-50's suggested that, with continued rapid technology advances and business growth, the labor force needed to sustain a healthy and growing national economy cannot reach full employment. This will require some restructuring in ways wealth is acquired and disposed of to ensure dignity for all citizens. Tascher believed the combined wealth of the country could easily provide for this contingency without placing hardships on anyone.

Another, Warren Buffett, noted that we will need fewer and fewer people in our labor force to produce the products and services for our economic needs in the future. Buffett went on to suggest that the only solution to that situation was a progressive system of taxation that recognized the fact that some people will wish to be in the labor force and others will rather go fishing. He also connected that the nation had more than enough combined wealth to undertake such a conversion to accommodate such an eventuality.

None of these propositions strips anyone of the possibility of earning obscene amounts of income or legacy wealth. We know the problem; we have the need. We have the wealth to solve the problem and address the need. And please, labels be damned. Call it what you will, but assess it for what it is – consideration for the value of every individual and an effort to up that value to its fullest potential for both that individuals and society.

It will be interesting to see how the conservatives respond to this concept, if Trump puts it forward as I predict he will. If he wants money to spend for needed programs, he has little choice.

4 Negotiation Lessons From The Twitter Feud POTUS Had With Mexico's President

One of the four vital soft skills necessary to lead others is the ability to negotiate for win-win deals. Unlike in the past, today's leaders cannot accomplish anything meaningful without engaging in constant negotiation. The days where leaders just give the order to realize their goals are literally over. In the 21st C, as they set goals, assign tasks to their team members, interact with their peers, superiors, and other residents within and outside of their organizations, they need to excel in negotiating for win-win deals.

In this article, let me share with you one of the most important considerations as you negotiate for win-win deals, which is, not revealing everything at the onset of any negotiation. Negotiation is an art and requires being strategic in our approach and timing. To illustrate the vitality of this wisdom, let me share with you the informal negotiation between US President Trump and Mexico's President Nieto at Twitter.

You might have already read or watched the news about Mexico's President, Enrique Pena Nieto, canceling a meeting with US President Donald Trump. If you review the events leading to the cancellation, you wouldn't be surprised. On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, Donald Trump signed an Executive Order to build the wall on the southern border of the US believing that Mexico will pay the cost in one form or another.

This decision was unilateral and was made without the consent of Mexico's government. The Executive Order offended members of Mexico's delegate who was in the US at that time to have some forms of negotiations with Trump's administration. Following the signature, the high-level representatives called their President to cancel the scheduled meeting with Trump.

On Thursday, while this was still going on, Trump tweeted saying: "If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting." It did not take long for Mexico's President to just do that-he canceled the planned meeting on Tuesday the following week, like Trump, via Twitter: " This morning we have informed the White House that I will not attend the meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with the POTUS. "

Why he canceled the meeting, you may ask, especially knowing that Mexico is going to lose the most? For your information, according to the US Census Bureau, Mexico is US's 3rd largest trading partner. Not only that, reports show that Mexico exports more than it imports- $ 63 billion dollars in deficit.

It is simple. In any negotiation, if you give your counterpart an ultimatum with your walking away price upfront and honestly (in this case, Trump revealed that he walks away if Mexico doesn't agree to pay for the wall), your counterpart immediately realizes your best and worst scenarios. And, if they figure out that they won't get a satisfactory agreement from a negotiation and somehow they could be able to live with the worst scenario, they walk away. That is what Mexico's President just did.

Below are four valuable lessons from the Twitter feud POTUS had with Mexico's President, which may help you in your future negotiations:

1. Don't give ultimatum upfront before the start of any negotiation . This applies to you even if you have the upper hand as you enter into any negotiation. Of course, if your desire is a win-win deal. I'm not sure whether Trump was making a tactical move to begin the negotiation from a strong ground or whether that was a misstep and oversight or brutal honesty. Otherwise, you shouldn't reveal your position honestly at the wrong time; Most importantly, you shouldn't demand concessions before the start of a negotiation. You should wait for the right time to demand concessions, and if necessary to make some concessions.

2. Don't reveal the bottom-line too soon. This is especially important during negotiations between two nations. Negotiations in business are entirely different than negotiations between nations, especially those from different cultures. In the case of business negotiations, as far as the negotiators get a deal acceptable by the majority of the shareholders, they may be considered successful. Unfortunately, negotiations between countries are complex. There are many companies with diverse, sometimes irreconcilable, interests and determinations. Trump attempted to negotiate on Twitter and revealed his bottom lines honestly for all citizens too soon. Sensitive negotiations should be done behind closed doors, at least, at the initial stage. There should be an agreement from both parties on how and when to communicate the progress of the negotiation to their respective owners.

3. Don't undermine emotions . Negotiations should consider both positive and negative roles emotions play. In their book 'Beyond Reason', Roger Fisher and Daniel Shapiro discussed the critical roles emotions play. They believed that people experience both positive and negative emotions as they negotiate. The authors claimed that people have difficulty to deal with their own and the emotions of others, and that affect the success of negotiations. His inner circle and thousands of ordinary citizens pressured Enrique because they felt that Trump's publicly displayed tweets did hurt their national pride! According to news from Mexico, the President was forced to cancel the meeting because citizens felt that their country and its people are bullied, and therefore, regardless of the economic consequences of walking away from the negotiation, they demanded their President cancel the meeting. "Emotions of the negotiating parties play critical roles for the success of a given negotiation. Recognizing my emotions and the message they may send, and also reading the emotions of others to recognize where they are in the negotiation." In this regard, Daniel Goleman also acknowledged, "Without the ability to sense our own feelings- or to keep them from swamping- we will be hopelessly out of touch with the moods of others." Sharpening one's negotiation skills requires understanding our emotions and regulating them so that we may not send inadvertent messages that may be used against us. And also the ability to read our counterparts' emotions and tap into that knowledge to lead the other party where we want to take them without manipulating.

4. Don't damage long-term relationships . Neighboring countries like the US and Mexico shouldn't just negotiate to get a better financial deal. They need each other for other collaborations that are critical to their countries, people, and the region. That doesn't mean they shouldn't aim at getting better deals for their respective countries, but this shouldn't come at the expense of permanently damaging their relationship. Win-lose negotiations always burn bridges and also injure healthy relationships. For Sunil Mittal- billionaire Indian telecom tycoon, "Relationship is very important. I can lose money, but I cannot lose a relationship. The test is, at the end of a conversation or a negotiation, both must smile."

At the time of this writing, it's too early to reach any conclusion, too premature. However, going forward, I'm sure that the two nations may keep working on a win-win deal, at least, behind the scene … I guess they have already realized that negotiation does not succeed on Twitter.

How Does It Affect You That Donald Trump Is President?

If this event is affecting you emotionally, the first thing to ask yourself is: Is it Donald Trump who creates my reality? Or am I the creator of my reality? The answer is obvious: You create your own reality and would do so even if Hillary Clinton had won. When you let these events affect you in a negative way, you are, to some degree, giving power to strangers who do not really have control of your life unless you give it to them.

You probably begin to argue that this man's influence on the world is so great that it is inevitable that his triumph will affect you. We are speaking in a neutral way. Depending on who you, the reader of this article, are, you may support him or not. This really is not the point, and it does not matter in essence. The point is that you affirm that the influence of this man is inescapable in the creation of your reality.

I must tell you emphatically and make it clear to you conscientiously that it is the Law of Attraction that is in charge of the reality that you create. Aligning thought with the Universe to attract what you desire to your life is far more powerful than the influence that these famous people can have.

You bring into your life that on which you focus. It's the story that you tell about your life that really matters. If you focus on telling the story of your life as you want it to be and you feel good while you tell it-no matter what stories others tell-your story is what will manifest in your life. You can make it happen if you focus on it and feel positive, even though these other people are famous personalities.

According to experts, more than 99 percent of the population expects someone else to change their reality. They need to have a leader to trust, for example, or a national project to improve their country's lifestyle.

I invite you to be part of that minority that have empowered ourselves. We trust that we are the creators of our reality, no matter what world leaders are saying.

It does not matter if these leaders think they have control or not. Your freedom of thought is the most important thing, and the thoughts on which you stay focused give you total control of your life. That is what you will manifest in the near future.

Seeing it this way, the only thing that affects you now that Donald Trump is president is that you have a point of contrast to better clarify the story that you want to tell and to manifest in your life. It would have been the same if Hillary Clinton had won: You would have a point of contrast to the same end.

When President Trump Lies, Who Loses? 5 Losers

Whether one agrees or disagrees with, supports or opposes, or what one's personal opinion of the man, may be, there should be, nearly, universal agreement, President Donald Trump, is certainly, unlike, any of his predecessors, in recent memory. Although, having personally worked on numerous political campaigns, for over 4 decades, I recognize, most politicians, stretch the truth, and resort to spinning the facts, to put them, in the best, possible, light, Trump has taken that tendency, to previously, unobserved, heights! Political fact – checkers have stated, he has lied, or materially mis – stated information, an average of over 5 times, per day, since his election! With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly examine, review and consider, 5 situations, where these lie. have created true losers.

1. Himself: Every time someone lies, and gets caught, either lying, or contradicting himself, he becomes a loser, because he. ends up, losing his personal credibility! Why should anyone believe anything, this man says, when he tells so many lies, constantly and consistently? Is he a congenital liar, a pathological one, or similar to, The boy who cried wolf ? The reality is, when something significant needs to be addressed, his constant use of stretching the truth, will make it challenging, to get many to believe anything he says and / or claims!

2. International: Rhetoric and vitriol, often, have significant ramifications, and when the President of the United States, which is considered, the most powerful individual, in the free world, makes heated claims, and either exaggerates, mis – states, and / or lies, he loses his credibility, around the world! In fact, numerous polls have indicated, the US is now held in the lowest esteem, throughout the world, it has ever been!

3. His core supporters / followers: Candidate, Trump claimed, I love the uneducated , apparently, in order, to inspire these individuals, to support his candidacy! He made many promises, for example, to factory workers, coal miners, etc, which, either, he knew, at the time, or should have, were, at the very least, exaggerations! These individuals have been hurt, because, they would have been better served, by retraining and relevant preparation, for the evolving world, and no one is served, when he claims to deny Climate Change, etc!

4. America's freedoms: Trump appears to get his facts from, what is often, referred to, as the Alt Right , or Far Right , and rather than, exploring realities and alternatives, has often made inflammatory statements, about many topics. His attempt to motivate certain fringe followers, by articulating vitriol, and using inflammatory statements, etc, has threatened, the very, freedoms, which have made America, great! For a man, whose slogan is, Make America Great Again, shouldn't we demand, a commitment to the truth?

5. Neediest Americans: Perhaps the biggest losers, in Trump's reliance on lying, are the neediest Americans! These individuals need leadership, which focuses on ways to improve their lives, rather than one, who claims to care, while constantly supporting laws and ideas, which are against their best interests, such as the recent tax reform, which favored corporations and the wealthiest , and health care reform, which would have taken away certain necessary protections. The constant attacks on minorities, immigrants, the Press, etc, have had their greatest, negative impact, on those, who can least afford it!

Trump states he wants to Make American Great Again, but, then, seems to demonstrate, his idea of greatness, is often based on lies, distortions, and enriching the wealthiest, often, at the expense of the rest of the nation. Wake up America, and show, you won't be swayed, by lies, etc!

Flurry Of Interest In Jane Jacobs Writings Emerge After President Trump Is Elected

The left has suddenly rediscovered Jane Jacobs as their hero of "diversity" and re-writers her works to fit their narrative in helping rebuild the democrat party after its epic fail and loss to president donald Trump. So who is Jane Jacobs? What works did she produce? What philosophy did she put forth? What insight can we garner from her wisdom, if any?

In Jane Jacobs' work: "Dark Age Ahead," 2004, a couple of years before she died, she talks about how in the United States and countries with rural areas, that 70-80% of the people are poor, contrasted with vibrant cities where there are fewer poor people, when those cities are designed correctly.

Unfortunately, and realize I don't mean to pick on an old lady, just because she's old, or just because she's a socialist, but in these statements and conclusions in her work she's mixing and conflating results with perceived causality. You see, cities suck from rural areas, suck away the money, water, energy, wealth, and tax monies. Cities are endless in their needs; urban transportation, low-income housing, and they manipulate markets to keep it going. Just like our universities live in a false la la land economy.

I'd argue every point with Jane here if she were still alive today, and I've been to every city in the US, and despise Agenda 21 and the socialists who want to pack people into cities, thinking it is more efficient. Without the rural areas the city would collapse as they require goods from all over to make it work. Sorry, but her claims are just nonsense, and if we are really looking for a philosopher on how to go about human civilization, we'd be much smarter to take into account the philosophy of Ayn Rand, not Jane Jacobs. Further, if we look at the urban planning in Portland OR, where she had a hand, it's not all that viable now in hindsight. Although to her credit she did predict its fall.

What good is building great master planned cities if you can't afford to pay for them, how about China that invested in huge cities where no one lives, with all the amenities, now falling apart, in debt and weeds growing through the sidewalks unmaintained . Beware of urban planners, technocrats, and remember the Urban Plight and Urban Flight of the past, these ideas are not so novel as proclaimed, nor are they the answer. After reading her final work, it seems she inherently understood these challenges, but kept to her original concepts of walkable cities, with open space, parks, and open areas with short blocks to create vibrancy. That's not enough.

She acknowledges the complexity in urban planning but constantly goes back to committee based planning involving everyone, yet, all we get when that's done is human politics, increased costs and thus, unaffordable developments causing needs for price controls, more spending, and more people inadvertently packed in like rats, and we all know what happens when we put a lot of rats together.

I find it interesting for the leftist political base today to use her works to promote their growing agenda to put people into little living spaces like college dorms in big cities – and claim it's best for all and will somehow garner increased quality of life? Not so, indeed, the socialists and leftist political elites are totally jaded argument and misread of Jane Jacobs misread of history – typical leftist pretenda-intellectual elite talking out their rear ends.

This work is now being used as hate-speech against Donald Trump, that's the only reason her books are now popular again. It's a misread of her work, further she had a misread of history as well. Besides Donald Trump knows a thing or two about building cities, cleaning up slum areas (check out Atlantic City near the casino he built), or the issues with low-income housing, he ought to know, he built a number of those large buildings under government contract.

Those who rose up and elected Trump realize this and the anti-Trump protesters are paid propaganda for a political purpose organized and funded by leftist groups who have more hate within that anything we've ever seen. To hell with those who use Jacobs' work as a launching point for their socialist, PC views against the fabric of America. We celebrate diversity here, but ramming PC down people throats is not noble.

Jane Jacobs is not the pillar of intellect she's made out to be as Leftists in the US attempt to re-write what she said from her own re-writing of history and mold it to their world views. Ayn Rand was more correct than Jacobs. And cities suck the wealth and taxes from the entire surrounding areas to exist, water, power, food, everything. The UN's Agenda 21 is bull, and is causing a complete and unnecessary false promise. This is another leftist bunch of BS, of course the left also enjoys channeling Karl Marx.

Perhaps, we should allow the left to put forth these arguments and then show them how their solutions have caused our problems, and are not the solutions, AKA: "the road to hell is always paved with the greatest intentions," why even Hugo Chavez believed he was doing what was best for Venezuela, we know how that turned out. Maybe, the left needs to more carefully re-read Jane Jacobs' works before using this dead woman's name to promote their failing agendas. Think on this.

Trump May Make History As a 'Great' President

When the United States election campaign commenced Donald Trump was not expected to win. Everybody including the political pundits had forecast that the winner would be Hillary Clinton. However, it did not happen that way and the Dark Horse Donald Trump stormed and won the election. He did not have the popular vote when he became president but that is because of the convoluted system of votes in America. Political stalwarts made forecasts that Donald Trump would be impeached. They also said he was unfit to be the president of the United States of America. Water flows down the river and like the Amazon it does not flow back. Donald Trump has surprised many people by taking decisions which previous presidents had not touched with a pole.

Important decisions

The decisions that Donald Trump took are going to place Donald on a different footing than the earlier presidents. He has shown that he is a man made of a different metal as he has taken decisions that nobody else took. To start with he took the historic decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This was a momentous decision and now orders have been passed to shift the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Earlier American presidents all would put this shifting in their election manifesto but when it came to brass tacks developed cold feet and never carried out the shifting. One reason was they were scared to antagonize the Muslim world and the Arabs in particular. Donald, as I have said, taking the decision and though he angered the Arab world, he has not changed it. This shows that Donald has honored the pledge that he made during the election campaign

Another important point which needs to be mentioned here is that he has stopped the free lunches for the Palestine Arabs. The Palestine leader Mohammad Abbas was using American funds and paying them to the next of kin of terrorist killed in combat. Donald's put a stop to and now there are no free lunches. He hs said that no aid from the USA would be coming in case it was being paid to terrorists. This is another major step which the previous American presidents were scared to take. This is a lesson to India where something similar is happening in Kashmir.

Terrorism and Islam

Another major decision Donald Trump took is identifying the source of terror. Terrorism, as we know, is the biggest danger in the globe today. Donald Trump has been the first man to identify Islam as a source of terror. He has repeatedly used the word "Islamic terrorism". This word was an anathema to the previous American presidents, who were scared to use the word and identify terrorism with Islam. No such inhibition with Trump, as he has clearly identified Islam as a source of terror. He has followed up with the travel ban on Muslims from a few countries associated with terrorism to travel to the USA. This ban was challenged in court but now has been upheld by the US Supreme Court. Donald Trump has done a great service to mankind by identifying the terror groups as drawing sustenance from Islamic scriptures. Obviously, this is not to the liking of the Arabs and the Muslims but it is only a man like Trump who will call a spade a spade

Trump also identified Pakistan as a source of terror. This is something which was overlooked by American presidents, even when the Pakistan army had given shelter to the notorious terrorist Osama Bin Laden for close to 6 years. Trump has accepted that Pakistan needs to do much more to fight terrorism

One of the most far-reaching decisions of Trump is his slated meeting with the Korean Dictator Kim Jong. No American President had met any North Korean leader for the simple reason they could not look beyond their nose. Trump has broken the shackles and even earlier he had said that he would have no objection to meeting Kim Jong in the right circumstances

Great president

All this happens just after one year of Donald Trump rule. There are many more points which will not be part of this article which puts Trump as something apart from earlier American presidents. There is no doubt in case he completes his full term as the President of the USA he may very well be considered a great president for giving a new direction to the world, more for identifying Islam as a source of terror.
