Hit the "Bulls-Eye" Every Time With Teleological Nutritional Targeting

Nearly everyone can remember hearing "Eat your carrots, they're good for you!". Did you ever take those wise and meaningful directions to heart and ask for another helping or did your eyes glaze over in mock belief?

What you may have once regarded as sheer folklore is proving to be astonishingly true. True for carrots plus a cornucopia of other yummy delights from the garden.

What exactly is teleological nutritional targeting? Is it a bow and arrow game or something out of a new age chemistry lab? It's neither.

The whole subject is rather old news – some would even say that it's really ancient wisdom. It's just not been brought to our attention in the last few centuries or so, until recently.

Teleological is the study of design or purpose in natural phenomena.

Nutritional targeting is "hitting the bulls-eye" of our dietary needs with nutrition-specific fruits and vegetables.

You can smartly determine how a particular plant from nature's bounty will suit your own individual requirements by simply looking at it. The outer shape and design is the first clue and the inner shape and design gives the second.

Color plays a part, also.

So, let's get back to the carrot. Sliced into "coins", you can see that the inner design looks remarkably like the iris and pupil of the eye. Nutritional science wholeheartedly supports the role this veggie plays in the health of your eyes.

Isn't it amazing how some foods resemble parts of the body that they help, such as:

  • Walnuts – a mysterious likeness to the left and right hemispheres, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums of the human brain. Compare the wrinkles (folds) on the inner nut and the outer shell to the neo-cortex. Science has now discovered that the nutrients present in walnuts help develop over thirty-six neurotransmitters for brain function.
  • Celery and rhubarb – a single "rib" standing up suddenly appears as a bone. These foods specifically target bone strength. Is it any wonder that bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium? If your body does not receive enough sodium it draws it from the bones, making them weak. Feed your hungry bones!
  • Tomatoes – look inside and you'll see a resemblance to the four chambers of the human heart. The color red of a vine-ripened tomato matches the blood that flows through it.

Whatever your need, there is a plant that exists somewhere with the answer found in its matching design.

There's an endless supply of solutions!

Mother Nature has a story she's craving to tell you sharing the wisdom of what's inside every fruit and vegetable. She is just waiting for you to ask!

Once she imparts her secrets to you, you'll view fresh produce with new meaning, new zest. You'll be spouting your newly found knowledge to everyone who'll give you an ear (hmmm … wonder what the story is on corn!).

Now, imagine going to the farmer's market, where all selections are organic. You choose onions with healthy skins, sweet potatoes that are elongated and six to ten inches long like the pancreas, fresh kidney beans and other information-rich garden offerings.

What joy!

Then come home and fill your kitchen table with treasures that are plum yummy. Make a list as to which areas of your body will get the attention they're starving for when you devour these lip-smacking, fresh foods.

Next, get out your favorite recipe book and aim to prepare a targeted, nutrient dense meal that truly satisfies and is tasty, too. Repeat daily.

Mother Nature, history's "first farmacist" will thank you.

Become your own farmacist today, the twenty-first century way! Learn more TNT wisdom and reap treasures of information on a variety of targeted whole foods that match the designs of the seven systems of the body.

It's Time for America to Face Its Shadow Around Racism

Making Intolerance and the Intolerant Intolerable

Yes, I know … The subtitle of this article is a paradox. But since I am supposedly capable of holding multiple perspectives at the same time, I'm perfectly fine with it, especially for the purposes of this article

"The Shadow In America: Reclaiming the Soul of a Nation," was first published in 1994. Compiled by Jeremiah Abrams with a foreword by Thomas Moore, and with contributions by Abrams, Jacquelyn Small, Aaron Kipnis, Robert Bly, and others, it presented an optimistic view of the firm ground needed to strip away the darkness that hides our country darker soul: racism.

Twenty-plus years later, that optimistic view and the dream of unity has been stripped away and has been replaced by the original sin of "separation," the polar opposite views of American Exceptionalism, increasing intolerance against anyone deemed an "other," not like us, and fear of "those people." When did we become such cowards?

It's easy to blame the racist rants of leaders who loudly denigrate the "others," but if leaders weren't supported by a large number of people, they wouldn't be able to get away with it. A leader and a large number of people and their shadow / hatred / fear of the "other" – spurred on by the silence of those who may not agree but are afraid to speak up – encourage their hatred to feed upon one another.

Is America standing on the precipice of a new civil war, or are we witnessing the death throes of the hatred-based systems of white supremacists, white nationalists, and neo-Nazis?

In 2014, America's Southern Poverty Center said the number of hate groups in the US was up from 602 in 2000, to more than 930 at the end of 2014.

Today the SPLC tracks more than 1600 extremist groups in the country.

And while a NBC Political Unit Poll on August 21st – taken a week after his first speech on Charlottesville – shows President Donald Trump's overall poll numbers are slipping again, what is particularly disturbing in the state-by-state polls is the percentage of Americans who approve of his job rating, ranging from 25 to 56 percent.

One cannot help but remember the words, spoken by Joseph Nye Welch to Senator Joe McCarthy in 1954 as we look today at a president who offer support to the abominable free speech rhetoric of those who were again inciting violence and urging extinction to Jews, including the President's Jewish son-in-law and daughter who became Jewish upon their marriage:

"Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

Trump was saying – not once, but twice – that both sides were to blame for the violence that led a white nationalist to plow his car into a crowd of counter-protesters killing Heather Heyer. The poll numbers are even more disturbing: While 55 percent of voters disapproved of Trump's response, an astonishing 34 percent of those voters approved of his response.

What can we extrapolate from the 34 percent approval rating of his statement?

It is not a stretch to assume that 34% – or one-third – of voters are, at some level, sympathetic to the white supremacist / neo-Nazi / white nationalist position. Could it be true, that in the 21st Century, one-third of voting adults in the US essentially support white supremacy?

Linguist George Lakoff places those who believe in white power and racial superiority at 35 percent of the country. In other words, the moral universe where male-led white supremacy thrives is rooted in a sobering significant portion of the country.

According to an AlterNet article titled "The Spread of White Nationalism Is Taking Our Nation into Uncharted and Dangerous Territory," it may take three or more decades for American demographics to change (when non-whites become a majority) to surmount this latest eruption of white supremacy. In the meantime, with one-third of our country eager to enter those unchartered and dangerous waters, with permission from the President of the United States, no less, we are witnessing an unraveling, and it's only beginning.

A deeper look into these demographics of racism and authoritarianism reveal how a global rise in authoritarian leadership is all too eager to promote fear of "the other" to their racist bases. Authoritarian leaders, who may or may not be racist themselves, use their racist base to take more and more control.

I'm not naïve enough to think that it's possible to completely stamp out hatred and racial intolerance, any more than it's possible to stamp out authoritarianism, but if the majority of us want to live in a better world, then we have no choice but to make intolerance intolerable, and we need to start now … and that includes taking responsibility for the indigenous genocide over the founding of this country.

… and the only way to do that is to start winning elections.

(Now, about that paradox … just one more variation of yelling "fire!" In a crowded theater: You can think it, but you can't say it, a conservative's nightmare.)

Isn't It Time To Say, Enough, To The Politicians?

How often, in the last couple of years, has the news, frustrated, depressed, irritated, or angered you, and you felt, you've had enough, of what's going on, and the direction, the United States of America, seems to be going? Have you observed how things are proceeding, and asked yourself, why those, supposedly, serving and representing you, appear to rather, be only serving their personal / political agenda, and self – interest? Why does it seem, so little common sense, is demonstrated, and, perhaps, even less integrity, and ethics? What makes the electorate, continue to vote, according to their prejudices, and biases, or the celebrity, rhetoric and empty promises, of those running for office, rather than for individuals (even if imperfect candidates, but better than the alternative), with experience, expertise, demonstrated judgment, and a degree of wisdom, who offer viable, relevant, sustainable solutions? Isn't it, about time, we prioritized the common good, and protecting America's liberties and freedoms (all of them, rather than being selective, and for all the people, not only supporters), and said, enough, to the hatred, vitriol, and polarization, created by certain elected officials?

1. The right, and the responsibility, to vote: In the Presidential election of 2016, when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but Donald Trump, was victorious, in the Electoral College, and several states, were won, by extremely small margins , more Americans decided to not take advantage of, and their responsibility to vote, than voted for both candidates, combined. Today, we see, many of the non – voters, voicing dismay about President Trump, but weren't these people, one of the primary causes? Mr. Trump won the election for a variety of reasons, and I believe, some of the principal ones, included: a) many did like Hillary Clinton, and either voted for the victor, because of that, or didn't vote, at all; b) voters bought – into his empty promises and rhetoric, even though, he didn't outline any viable plan, or solution; and / or, c) they shared Trump's vision of America, and / or his rhetoric, and / or his prejudices and biases.

2. Respect for the Office of the President, is different that for the man: We should respect the office of the President, as the highest office, in the land. But, there is, also, a somewhat, fine line, between doing so, and blindly following the individual, serving, regardless of whether, his actions, are in alignment, with the ideals, freedoms and liberties, this nation has always represented! Until / unless, citizens make their elected officials, responsible, for serving and representing all of us, not only his supporters, and doing so, safely, responsibly, and in accordance with our Constitutional rights, we will only see, worse abuses, in the future. Nothing will change until it becomes clear, voters have had enough!

Are you sick – and – tired, of being, sick – and – tired? If so, stand up for better representation, and tell those, in office, Enough !

Preparing For Baby – Tools and Tips For First Time Grandmothers

Preparing for your first grandchild is an exciting process that can be as unique as the childbirth itself for first time grandmothers. Once you recover from the initial shock that "your baby" is no longer baby, it is time to get both mentally and physically prepared to offer proactive support to both mommy and daddy from the beginning to the end of the new mom's recuperation phase. It is truly more than preparing for baby showers, opening gifts, and sending thank you cards.

Preparation begins with the announcement. From that moment, nothing is the same. My husband and I received our announcement on Christmas day. Our daughter and son-in-law came into the living room of their home to say "the test was positive, congratulations grand mom." A child was in the wings! The excitement is indescribable. It is one of the many times you realize that it is only through the power of God that such a miracle would be possible.

Months of pre-planning begins. Encouraging the new mom to eat and sleep properly (grand mothers worry – that's what we do!), Initiating baby shower planning details (it doesn't hurt to send "save the date" cards), helping mom monitor gift registries and coordinating materials that will be useful after the baby arrives. Even the selection of what the mom and baby will wear on their first trip home is reminiscent of the bridal planning process.

Our event planning was even more more unique. My daughter lived in another state, so we had to ensure baby shower planning in her home state and new location were coordinated as not to create unnecessary mental or physical stress for the new mom. Additionally, travel for the mom is limited after a certain point. It's important, therefore, to ensure calendar dates are reviewed with everyone involved in the two state coordinating efforts.

The future grandmother needs to be proactive about getting ready for the level of hands on input and support that will be needed from her before, during, and after the birth. Essential elements of grandmother preparation should include several considerations:

Watching your diet, taking vitamins, starting an exercise program – Why? You could be "actively" involved in the birthing and immediate aftercare process. I was part of the designated support team and, as such, participated in the breathing exercises, hand holding, and offering gentle conversations my daughter needed while experiencing labor pains. In addition to singing songs, and stroking her head with a wet cloth throughout the labor, I rotated with my son in law to maintain presence and support up to the moment of delivery.

Had I not spent time weeks before my visit exercising, getting plenty of rest, and taking vitamins on a regular basis, it would have been a struggle surviving this most strenuous process. Planning a nine month low impact aerobics or walking routine will make a world a difference during a 10-20 hour labor process.

Using recorded music or sounds. Be prepared with a CD player or soothing sound machine. Being able to play your daughter's favorite music, inspirational messages, or offer other soothing natural sounds can be very helpful in providing comfort during the most strenuous moments.

Taking time to refresh you knowledge about the pregnancy and childbirth process – Especially if you are going to be part of the birthing process, a brief refresher of what to expect would be helpful .. You daughter may look to you at various points of the process for reassurance. It would be helpful if you are able to use terminology she learned during the birthing preparation classes to let her know you are aware and can relate, including up to date information.

Setting aside at least two weeks after the birth to be available or commit to spend time helping both the new mom and her husband during the recuperation and adjustment period is an invaluable gift your daughter will never forget. Sleep schedules, adjusting to feeding, doctor appointments, stabilizing meal schedules, addressing unexpected emergencies, and helping with general lifestyle changes all make a difference between smooth and traumatic transition. The significance of your presence during this time cannot be measured.

Scheduling "readiness" packing. Do not wait until your daughter is heading to the hospital to pack items you may need if asked to stay overnight. Be sure to include dried fruit, juice, peppermints, and other light refreshments you can access during break times.

Our team took turns sleeping and eating during the 17 hours my daughter was in labor. We prepared a kit that included toothbrush, wash cloth, her favorite music, and fresh fruit (unfortunately, hospital vending machines only offer carbonated soda and potato chips – uninviting during the 2-4 am morning hours).

Becoming a grand mother for the first time is a precious gift from God. Participating in the process can mark a moment in your life that can only be matched by the birth of your daughter. Your role will be different this time, but it is important toward enhancing the joy of your daughter and son-in-law's birthing experience. Congratulations Grandma! Welcome to a wonderful new experience.
