Many people today, regardless of their political ideology, or preferences, would probably agree, we are witnessing, a level of rhetoric, and vitriol, not observed, in recent memory. While there have always been a minority of people in the United States, with extremist views, in most instances, the tone of public discourse, has been, at least, somewhat, civil! Today, we appear, to be undergoing, a tone, where America appears to be polarized, rather than trying, to find, some sort of middle – ground, for the common good! Wouldn't we be better served, if we would pay attention, to the song, What The World Needs Now, Is LOVE ? With that in mind, this article will briefly examine, review, and consider, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why we need, this sentiment, so strongly, today.
1. Listen; learn; leadership; lessons: Our main political leader, President Donald Trump, has politicized, these differences, either because of his personal views, or, for political gain! Mr. Trump, rather than emphasizing and focusing on effectively listening, and learning from every conversation, and experience, has focused on his apparent, core supporters! Effective leadership would be enhanced, if our political leaders, learned the essential lessons, and realized, nations benefit, when policies address the common good, rather than any self – interest of personal agenda, and freedoms, must be respected, in their wholeety, rather than selectively!
2. Open – minded; options; opportunities: We would all be better served, if everyone would proceed with an open – mind, rather than believing he had all the answers, or for political and / or personal gain! Consider the alternatives and options, and opt for the finest, possible, opportunities, for the common good!
3. Visionary; values: My vision, for America, is one of loving others, whether they have faults, and / or agree with me! Rather, we need leadership, which is visionary, enough, to respect the freedoms and liberties, which makes us great! True American values, should guide us, towards avoiding categorizing others, and maintaining the right to disagree, I may disagree with you, but will fight for your rights, to maintain your opinions!
4. Empathy; emphasis; excellence: If our political leaders, would spend more time and effort, effectively listening to constituents, and learning from every conversation, observation, and / or experience, they would become more capable of consistently proceeding, with the utmost degree of genuine empathy! If the emphasis was on bringing people together, rather than pitting one group, against another, they would position themselves, to focus on quality, and excellence, and serving the best interests of the entire nation, and all constituents, whether they were supporters, or not!
What the world needs now, is LOVE! Wake up, America, and demand your political representatives, proceed, with respect, for all our freedoms and liberties!
