Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ordered a ‘revision’ of diplomatic relations with the US at a public meeting in Caracas on Tuesday.
The president promised to announce new measures in “the next few hours”.
Maduro was responding to comments made earlier on Tuesday by US Vice-President Mike Pence, who declared his support for protesters and opposition leaders before anti-government demonstrations planned for Wednesday.
In the taped video message, Pence called the Venezuelan leader a “dictator with no legitimate claim to power.”
